A CARE home has been fined £4,000 after failing to comply with warnings about how it manages medicines.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has issued the fixed penalty notice to Beech Court Nursing Home, in Newland Street, Eynsham.
Registered provider Dr Brian Cheung was told the home faced legal action following four unannounced inspections since November 2012, the CQC said.
The home, which can take dementia patients, was told to make urgent improvements but said “people were still at risk by unsafe use, management and storage of medicines” and issued the fine, which has been paid.
Concerns from the February visit included medicines not always being kept securely so only staff could access them, such as medicine left on a trolley, and the room where the trollies were kept left unlocked.
It said medicine records were not always up to date with regard to allergies and it saw one person’s medication not dissolved in water as it should have been.
A statement from the home said: “Many of the issues raised have already been addressed and staff are working tirelessly to resolve the remaining areas.”
