MORE than 2,000 people enjoyed sounds and sunshine at Witney’s first Jazz in the Park festival on Sunday.
The event was held at The Leys, with a line-up featuring local acts alongside singers from BBC1 TV talent show The Voice.
Proceeds, which are expected to top £2,000, will go towards the project to create a splash park at the recreation ground.
Performers included The Voice singers Nomakhosi Nkosi and Miss Sha and jazz band The Hipcats.
As well as the music there were children’s attractions including a splash pool, inflatable car track and bungee jump.
Five-year-old Abbie Russell, of Wadards Meadow, went to the festival with her mother Karen Williams. She said: “I loved the music and Miss Sha was the best. I went on the bouncy castle and go-karts, and had ice cream.”
Mrs Williams said: “We went down there out of the blue and really enjoyed it.”
Event manager Warren Brown, of Powerhouse Music Management, said: “We’re already talking about doing an event at Christmas and another one next year.”
