ABOUT 200 bags of clothes have been donated to charity by people who no longer need them after losing weight.

The Witney and Carterton branches of Slimming World delivered the clothes, which are estimated to be worth about £6,000, to Cancer Research UK.

They will now be sold in its shops across Oxfordshire.

Carterton Slimming World consultant Andrew Brooks said: “As they’re losing a lot of weight, our members have a lot of clothes that don’t fit any more, so we asked them to donate them to charity.

“What’s pleasing is that they have kept the weight off, so they’re happy to donate their old clothes. It’s the end of a chapter in their lives.”

The Carterton group meets at the town’s Methodist Church, in Burford Road, every Monday at 7pm and Tuesday at 7.30pm.

A group also meets at the Carterton Women’s Institute Hall, in Brize Norton Road, on Thursday evenings at 9.30am.
