POLICE have tonight released on bail a man arrested after a schoolgirl was killed and three other people injured in a crash in Witney.
The 18-year-old was arrested at the scene of the crash this morning in Curbridge Road when a car mounted the kerb and hit a man and three schoolgirls from Henry Box School.
A 14-year-old, named locally as Liberty Baker, later died of her injuries. The man is believed to have suffered a broken hip and one of the other schoolgirls is understood to have serious head injuries.
Police arrested the man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
A police spokesman has said tonight: "An 18-year-old man arrested in connection with a fatal collision in Witney this morning has been bailed by police.
"The man, who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a collision in Curbridge Road at 8.12am in which a 14-year-old girl was killed, has been bailed until 10 August."
