And there was more sporting action yesterday as pupils took part in the Oxfordshire Sainsbury’s School Games.

Held at White Horse Leisure Centre, in Audlett Drive, Abingdon, the event draws on the London 2012 Olympic fever and aims to inspire children to participate more in sport.

Pupils from Bicester’s The Cooper School, on Churchill Road, took part.

Head of PE at The Cooper School, Andy Brown, said: “It just provides them with an opportunity to do something outside of school.

“It gives them an opportunity to use their talents in a different way to succeed.”
