THE Oxford Mail Cross Country League may not take place next season unless a successor to manager Luke McNeill comes forward.
That was McNeill’s fear as he announced he would be stepping down in March after eight campaigns in charge.
With treasurer Marie-Anne Fischer also resigning at the end of the season, only Frank Briscoe will remain of the league’s committee.
“The last two years have been hard, and I feel that the league deserves a more dedicated and effective manager,” said McNeill.

“This leaves only Frank Briscoe of the existing committee, and it is unfair and unsafe that one person should run everything.
“Thus, if no replacement is found, the league will not exist from Autumn 2015.
“I think this would be a great loss to Oxfordshire athletics, and I would be sorry to be the last manager, but for many reasons, it is up to the member clubs of Oxfordshire to make the league work.”
