POLICE are investigating a series of burglaries and attempted break-ins in Lyneham and the Wychwoods.
A garage and greenhouse were broken into overnight between Thursday, December 18, and Friday, December 19, in High Street, Lyneham.
Two car racing helmets, racing boots and socket set were stolen. A car was seen driving nearby with its lights switched off at 4am.
And a black Audi A3 parked outside a house in the same road was broken into on the Friday. A pair of Rayban sunglasses were stolen and a bike was taken from a garden shed. The bicycle was later found dumped in a neighbour’s garden.
Between 8pm and 11pm on the Friday a silver VW Golf was broken into in High Street, Ascott-under-Wychwood, and a man was disturbed in Plum Lane, Shipton-under-Wychwood, at about 10pm that evening.
He was searching through a Land Rover but ran off, leaving behind a carrier bag and torch.
The man was aged 30 to 40, about 5ft 10in, of stocky build, with short, dark hair. He wearing a black leather jacket.
