A MAN has been arrested after a teen was assaulted in Witney yesterday.

A 19-year-old man was punched in the head, knocking him unconscious, at about 12.45am outside Barclays Bank in Market Square.

He was left with a fractured cheek bone and was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford for treatment but was subsequently discharged.

Police said the attacker then walked away towards Corn Street and got into a taxi.

The offender is white, in his 20s, 5ft 9ins to 5ft 10ins, medium build, with blond hair. He was wearing a white sweatshirt and blue jeans.

A 23-year-old man from Witney has been arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent.

He has been released on police bail until April 14.
