Police warn drivers after a spate of thefts

POLICE are warning drivers not to leave valuables in their cars after a spate of thefts in West Oxfordshire.

Between February 10 and February 14, nine vehicles were broken into.

Two were parked in Jordans Close, Ramsden, three in Moorland Road and one in Dark Lane, in Witney, one in Churchill Way, in Long Hanborough, and two in Wootton, which were parked in Church Street and Chapel Hill.

Items stolen included hand and power tools, a disc cutter and generator, mobile phone, satellite-navigation system, wallet, stereo equipment and speakers.

Sgt Craig Kirby, who is based at Witney police station, said: "With such a spate of opportunist thefts, we need motorists to take steps to prevent themselves becoming victims. Leaving anything in your vehicle which may be attractive to thieves is simply inviting criminals to strike.

"Remember to take out all valuables when you park up, particularly if it is for the night."
