HUNDREDS of villagers paraded through Harwell for an annual bank holiday feast.

Festive floats made their way up the High Street in the village and back down to the recreation ground before being judged by a secret panel hiding in the crowds.

Classic cars, steam engines, a brass band and even an English Civil War History Society re-enactment entertained those made the most of their Bank Holiday Monday.

A craft marquee, ferret racing and a falconry display were also on offer for villagers.

Gary Summerfield with his son George, two, came second in the competition with their pirate themed float.

Mr Summerfield, 49, said: “It was cracking there was a really good community spirit.

“Everyone knows everyone and had a fantastic time.”

Harwell Primary School’s VE Day celebration-themed float were announced the winners while the WI’s float came third.
