AN OXFORDSHIRE company has received a Guinness certificate after breaking the world record for the most people motion-captured in real time.

Vicon, which uses the technology used to turn people’s movements into computer graphics, set the record by capturing 19 people at once.

The Wheatley-based firm set the record with another county company, Audiomotion Studios, filming two UK hip hop dance crews in Oxford on March 9.

Vicon sales director Andy Ray said: “We’re often asked how many people a Vicon system will capture in real-time, and up to this point we haven’t had a definitive answer, so we decided to go for a fully-validated method of seeing what could be done.

“Dancing, and indeed B-Boy dancing, with a group of people who have never done motion capture before was incredibly challenging.

But, he said: “All the hard work paid off. We’re really excited to have set a new Guinness World Record.

“It’s a unique attempt which shows the versatility of Vicon motion capture systems.”

Audiomotion Studios MD Mick Morris said his company was also very proud to have been part of the record.
