AN UNWANTED dog is in desperate need of a loving home after spending more than 500 lonely days at a Burford animal centre.

Homeless hound Kenny, a collie-cross Staffordshire bull terrier, is currently being cared for at charity Blue Cross’ rehoming centre in Burford.

Almost 3,000 dogs have left the charity’s 12 rehoming centres to start a new life in the 17 months Kenny has been at the Shilton Road centre. Kenny arrived at the centre, which can care for up to 150 animals, in February 2014 after his owners moved home and had to leave him behind. More than 13,000 people have applied online to rehome a Blue Cross dog while eight-year-old Kenny has been at the centre, but he has been overlooked every time.

Centre manager Jenna Martyn said: “We think Kenny may get overlooked because of his breed. It’s such a shame as he’s a lovely dog and staffies can make fantastic pets.

“They love human company and cuddles and Kenny definitely has these wonderful staffie traits.

“It breaks my heart no one wants to take him home. We’ve tried really hard to find him a suitable family, but he’s still waiting.”

It costs £125 to adopt a dog staying at a Blue Cross centre.
