AN OXFORDSHIRE town will be adorned in pink flowers, balloons and decorations tomorrow.

Witney in Pink is returning with a big push to raise thousands of pounds for charity Against Breast Cancer.

Jeanne Chattoe, who owns Renaissance vintage clothing store in the town centre, first had the idea for the fundraising day 15 years ago.

She said: “I was just lying in bed and it came to me. And it’s grown so much since then.

“It’s going to be amazing. It’s absolutely wonderful the way Witney comes together to support this.”

The day starts at 10am in the town centre with cake stalls, games and more. A total of 700 pink balloons will adorn the town and Tower Hill Football Club will sport pink whistles.

Mrs Chattoe added: “The mayor of Witney, Jim King, will judge pink shop windows at 10.30am and Witney Town Band will play at 1pm.”

Her shop neighbour, Rosa Ashby, of Rosa Flowers, will sell 120 pink roses, giving all proceeds to charity.

She said: “Last year we raised £745 by selling 100 roses so I hope this year, with 120 roses, we will raise more. The weather is meant to be nice so we hope it will bring more people.”
