POLICE scouring the water and area around Iffley Lock yesterday were searching for missing man Frank Rothnie.

Officers are appealing for information in tracing 54-year-old Frank Rothnie from Oxford.

He was last seen at around 12.45am on Sunday at the Prince of Wales pub in Church Way, Iffley Village.

He is believed to have left the pub and walked about at Iffley Lock.

Mr Rothnie is white, 5ft 9ins, slim, and has grey hair. When he was last seen he was wearing a Waitrose supermarket uniform and may have been carrying a brown satchel.

Officers were spotted searching the water and the lock area yesterday morning for Mr Rothnie.

Canal boats on the lock were moved as police searched.

Det Insp Jim Holmes, from Oxford Force CID, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who has seen Mr Rothnie or anyone with information about his whereabouts.

“If you have any details which could help to locate him please contact police so we can ensure he is safe.”
