A MUM from Chipping Norton is hoping her songwriting talents hit the right notes after getting through to the final stages of a competition.

Amy Bee sees her progress in the UK Songwriting Contest as her lucky break in the music industry.

The mother-of-two, who has been penning music for 25 years, is in the semi-finals in the singer/songwriter category for her track Beautiful Chaos and in the acoustic/folk category for Take Good Care.

She said: “I entered eight songs and six of them are being considered for a commendation award.

“Beautiful Chaos is appropriate for what is going on in the world at the moment. It is about negative power but it’s not political, it’s more spiritual.

“It is a song I almost imagined being in a film like The Hunger Games or something.

“I wrote it when the New York floods happened a couple of years ago. It usually takes me a day to write a song but this took me 15 minutes.

“When I was recording it, my husband put his iPad through the glass of the recording booth to show me photos of 9/11 and the London riots.

“It is such an emotional song.”

Mrs Bee hopes exposure from the competition will enable her to work with some of the industry’s best.
