SMOOTH crooner Bryan Ferry has been announced as headliner for this year’s Cornbury Festival.

The former Roxy Music star tops an impressive bill of artists covering rock, pop, soul and country, to play the music weekender, which takes place at Great Tew Park, near Chipping Norton from July 8-10.

He is joined by Gospel singer Mavis Staples, singer-songwriter Gabrielle Aplin – who scored a number one hit in 2012 with her cover of Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s The Power of Love – and alternative country star Lucinda Williams.

Also appearing in the grounds of the west Oxfordshire stately home, is Seal, who last year delighted fans with a surprise guest slot, singer-songwriters James Morrison and Newton Faulkner, 60s band The Zombies, Noah & The Whale guitarist Fred Abbott, bluegrass artist Ramin Karimloo and Lighthouse Family frontman Tunde – who will play tunes from the group’s back catalogue.

Among the more surprising additions is rock ‘n’ roll survivor, and Dr Feelgood frontman, Wilko Johnson, who played a farewell gig at the gathering in 2013 while suffering from cancer, but who has since recovered.

Meanwhile, national treasure Dame Shirley Bassey will headline this year’s Henley Festival.

Organisers of the gathering, held between July 6-10, on the Royal regatta site, today revealed the Goldfinger singer will perform at the black tie event with Blake on the Saturday.

Also topping the bill at Henley will be Elton John on the Wednesday, Elvis Costello and The Imposters on the Thursday, Bryn Terfel and the Welsh National Opera Orchestra on the Friday and Will Young, who closes the event on the Sunday.

Tickets start at £35 from henley-festival.co.uk.
