A kitchen fire in Kidlington has left a woman unable to return home due to the extent of the damage.
The woman, from Banbury Road in Kidlington, left whatever she was cooking unattended and cause a small fire last night.
Three fire engines and a victim support unit from the Red Cross were called just before 8pm and discovered that the fire had spread to the extractor fan unit.
They found the woman outside the property being cared for by a neighbour.
Crews dealt with the fire and smoke was blown out through the ventilation system.
Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said the damage made the house uninhabitable and the Red Cross found the resident further accommodation.
