A CONSULTATION has been launched on the future of Oxfordshire County Council's seven household waste recycling centres ahead of a new management contract.
The council is seeking a fresh contract to operate the seven sites at Alkerton near Banbury, Ardley, Dix Pit near Stanton Harcourt, Drayton, Oakley Wood near Wallingford, Redbridge in Oxford and Stanford in the Vale and is looking for residents' views on measures that could be introduced to make savings and create income.
Last August the council revealed plans to close up to half of its centres to save £350,000 but due to concerns expressed in a first consultation decided in December to defer the decision. A revised strategy looking at whether to replace or redevelop Redbridge and possibly close Ardley and Alkerton was also discussed.
All Oxfordshire householders are invited to submit their views between now and Thursday, August 11. This can be done online or by post.
The documents are available online at oxfordshire.gov.uk/waste and anyone in need of support to take part is asked to call officers on 01865 816043 or email waste.management@oxfordshire.gov.uk
