West Oxfordshire District Council has reported "several issues" with bin collections this week due to staff shortages.

People in the area area being warned that it could have a knock-on effect for the rest of the week.

Crews in Eynsham, Cassington, Witney and Freeland will be back out tomorrow to pick up any recycling, food waste and refuse that wasn't collected earlier and residents are being asked to leave their containers out.

A statement posted today by the council said: "Please be assured that the waste team here at the Council are working hard to minimise the effects of these issues and that crews will return as soon as possible to collect any bins they have missed - usually the following day.

"If your bin has not emptied by the end of the following day, please report it as a missed collection on our website at: www.westoxon.gov.uk/bins and leave your bin out. This report is then fed directly to our contractor, Kier.

"We apologise for any delays and thank you for your patience."
