AN amateur photographer was 'buzzing' after her breathtaking snap won an Oxford Mail competition.

Abingdon mum-of-three Becca Collacott won last week in our freshly-formed Camera Club, with her striking picture of sunrise at St Helen's Wharf in Abingdon.

The healthcare assistant said: "It's just a hobby but I love taking photos of the river and at Radley Lakes.

"I took this one on Wednesday morning at about 6am, on my way to work. I was driving past and thought 'I won't stop', but then quickly pulled over and ran back. I couldn't miss it."

Mrs Collacott took the shot with her Canon 70D camera, which she bought in 2014 after winning cash on a radio competition.

The South Abingdon resident said the Oxford Mail's Camera Club was an 'excellent idea'.

The club gives participants the chance to compete every week to win a £25 Jessops voucher, and meet up at the paper's offices in Oxford where our team can offer photographic tips.

Mrs Collacott added: "We [photographers] can talk to each other at meet-ups - it will be really nice to get some great ideas. There are so many fantastic photos on the new Camera Club page."

Photographers will be shortlisted in an online reader vote, with the final say sealed by Oxford Mail chief photographer Ed Nix.

Snaps will also be used in a special weekly features and considered for a 2018 Oxford Mail calendar.
