THE M40 has reopened in both directions following a police incident which closed the carriageway through a large swathe of Oxfordshire.
Highways England warned drivers to allow extra time for journeys after the the motorway was closed between J8 to J8a northbound and between J9 and J8 southbound.
Police have not yet revealed exact details about what happened, but Highways England said it related to 'an incident on an overbridge'.
The force quickly resolved the incident this afternoon and said the road is now reopened fully.
