THREE women who worked at a care home which was plunged into special measures after alleged ill treatment of residents have been charged.

Police investigated alleged neglect at Winterbrook Nursing Home in Cholsey after officers were called there on June 23, 2017.

Elizabeth Collins, 61, of Kynaston Road, Didcot, has been charged with three counts of ill treatment/wilful neglect of an individual and six counts of breaching a care provider’s duty of care resulting in ill treatment/neglect of an individual.

Mary Craddock, 59, of Egerton Road, Wallingford, has been charged with five counts of ill treatment/wilful neglect of an individual.

Joan Lovell, 63, of St Leonard’s Lane, Wallingford, has been charged with three counts of ill treatment/wilful neglect of an individual.

They have been summoned to appear at Oxford Magistrates’ Court on April 10.

None of the women currently work at the care home.

The nursing home was recently told it had made improvements following a CQC inspection.

But a report published this month said it still required improvement overall.

Safety, leadership and effectiveness of staff at the home was found to require improvement, while assessment of its caring nature and responsiveness to change were marked as good.
