THE almighty thunderstorm which rocked Oxfordshire overnight on Saturday was captured in spectacular images by Oxford Mail Camera Club.

Chris Russell-Gray, whose photo is above, revealed he stayed up storm chasing until 2am to get his shot on a bridge over the A40 near Witney Lakes.

The result is this remarkable time-lapse image where skeletal lightning jumps across the storm clouds as cars race beneath.

Bob revealed that in order to get his photo he put his camera on "B" setting and shot with a remote leaving the shutter open until after the lightening flash.

He added: "You will need to mount on a sturdy tripod out of the rain."

The mighty storm was the result of one of the hottest April weeks on record, causing a build-up of static electricity.
