A CHILDREN’S horse show at a West Oxfordshire farm was the perfect opportunity for young riders to sharpen their skills.

The event was held recently at Lower Haddon Livery, part of Lower Haddon Farm, which can be found on Station Road between Bampton and Brize Norton.

Around eighty children took part in the event, which included a showjumping competition and a gymkhana.

Organiser Jane Dudley runs the equestrian arm of the farm, which is owned by her father.

She said: “The event was aimed at families coming along with their children and having fun – but most importantly about children gaining confidence and experience.

“The whole event was really well supported and very successful. We even had some fantastic feedback on Facebook which is where we promote a lot of our events.”

The horse show had several rings dedicated to showing, a gymkhana and a number of games played on horseback.

In another ring there was an obstacle course and part of the event included a showjumping competition.

The winner of the event’s main championship was Thomas Harper.

He was presented an award at the end of the day by judge Peter Colson.
