A MUCH-LOVED music academy will be forced to leave its home by the end of the month after the building's owner gave it two weeks' notice to move out.

On Thursday, town and district councillor David Harvey, owner of The Rock Barn in Witney, gave MuzoAkademy until September 27 to vacate the premises.

The academy has been based in the Market Square venue for four years, but is searching for new premises after a planning application to demolish the building was approved on Monday.

West Oxfordshire District Council's planning committee voted in favour of plans to replace the building with six flats.

MuzoAkademy tweeted: "We have a couple of temporary options available to us, so we can keep Muzo's Muzo-ing, but we need a home."

West Oxfordshire District Council and Witney Town Council are working with the academy to help them find a permanent home in the town centre.
