A ROBBER who subjected a man with mental health issues to “a prolonged and targeted attack” has been jailed for 15 years.

Martin Todd, of Milestone Road, Carterton, was sentenced at Aylesbury Crown Court on Friday after being found guilty of two counts of aggravated burglary and one charge of robbery.

The 32-year-old had denied tying up the vulnerable 25-year-old man and threatening him with a screwdriver, before hitting him over the head with a bottle in order to steal his bank card and belongings. The attack happened early on May 20 last year at an address in the Madley Park area of Witney.

Todd was sentenced to 15 years in prison for each charge, to run concurrently. His co-defendant, Mark Hillier, 27, of Littlebrook Meadow, Shipton under Wychwood, was cleared of the charges.

Dc Grahame Lea, investigating officer, said: “Todd carried out a prolonged and targeted attack on a defenceless man, subjecting him to extreme violence and threatening him with his life.

“I would like to praise the victim in this case who, despite the level of violence he was subjected to and the effect this has had on his life, had the strength and courage to report the matter to police.”
