FILMGOERS were evacuated after a hailstorm apparently set off the alarms at Witney’s Cineworld cinema.

During the freak storm around 4pm films were interrupted and audiences were told to leave by the nearest exit.

Reports of freak ‘tornado’ type weather have also been received from Bicester, Eynsham, and Kidlington.

Damage to roofs and outbuildings has been reported.

I was traveling back from Begbroke through the storm I have been driving over 20 years and they were the biggest hailstones I have ever seen seen in this country. Nothing like the ones they get during the Tornado's in the US though!

It does not take long to assess damage when you see your roof tiles strewn across the garden and the damage that caused to brand new patio set and daylight through your roof.

I was fishing on the linear complex when the tornado came through right next to me. It brought down trees and aslo picked up water too. It came with such a roar I had not a clue what was going on. Have a few pictures

I took pictures of the hail every few minutes and it got bigger and bigger and was about 1cm across at the biggest point! Never seen anything like this before, my kids were pretty scared and we were indoors! Amazing to think how unusual all this weather is we're having at the moment, and yet we'll still be in a drought!

Being a brit from Banbury now living in the US . You lot would of loved the storm we had here last weekend . It looked just like the one at the top of the page . We had 3 inches of rain in less than an hour 3 tornado's about 5 miles away and the best part we had hail starting at golf ball size then egg size and it finished with cricket ball size hail it looked like it was raining snow balls . Ive never seen anything like it
