Heavy downpours could cause flash flooding this afternoon

THE Met Office has issued an amber warning for heavy rain in Oxfordshire this afternoon including the possibility of flash flooding.
A statement on the Met Office website says: “The more persistent rain is more likely across parts of central and eastern England and North Wales, while across most of southern England, the south Midlands and South Wales local heavy thundery downpours are expected.
“The public should be aware that given saturated ground across many parts, localised flooding and disruption to travel may result.”
