Time to submit bid for Gannett grant

THE first application for this year’s Gannett Foundation grant has already been received.

Up to £10,000 is on offer to charitable causes across Oxfordshire thanks to a grant offered by the Oxford Mail’s parent company.

Last year, the Blackbird Leys Adventure Playground received £6,500, and the Oxford Food Bank £10,000, with £9,000 going towards Carterton’s repatriation memorial bell.

Newsquest Oxfordshire group editor Simon O’Neill said: “I would urge people to come forward with their applications and I’m looking forward to seeing the wide range of causes which will be in the running for this year’s grant.”

The Gannett Foundation is the charitable arm of Gannett Co Inc, which owns Newsquest and the Oxford Mail and its sister paper The Oxford Times .

Registered charities can apply for a grant of between £5,000 and £10,000.

Religious or political groups, schools, hospitals, and general appeals are not eligible, nor are applications for salaries or running costs.

Applications must be received no later than 5pm on Friday, September 21.
