MAKING a monkey out of an old sock may not sound like a recipe for personal fulfilment, but it is paying dividends for the founders of a new business.

Lifecraft has been set up by two professional designers and a film producer who are putting their careers on standby to follow their passion for home-made craftwork.

Friends Layla Blackman, from Marlow, Leigh Hicks, of Witney, and Georgia Styring, of Oxford, say they want to offer everyone the chance to explore the joy of making things by hand.

The three mothers launched their new business with taster craft sessions in Oxford.

Ms Blackman, 37, said: “It’s almost a therapeutic process – you feel so good after you have made something lovely. It’s about getting away and doing something for yourself – having some social interaction as well as doing something worthwhile.”
