DRESSED in Edwardian costume, dozens of villagers in Enstone gathered for a traditional 1900s-style tea party.

The event, organised by the Enstone History Society, was held at the sports and social club on Sunday.

Society member John Pritchard, 69, said: “The highlight was the fact that everyone made such an effort, and entered into the spirit of things.”

Mr Pritchard gave a speech about Enstone’s history to open the event.

He said: “Structurally, the village was quite similar in Edwardian times. The cottages are mostly 16th, 17th and 18th century, so most of the buildings are as they were.

"The big difference is the fact that there was no traffic then.”
