Sex messages were just 'pure fantasy'

A TEACHER accused of having sexual relations with a schoolboy said thousands of sexual messages between the pair were “pure fantasy”.

Adam Williams told jurors at Oxford Crown Court yesterday the messages detailing plans to meet up and exchanging compliments about kissing technique were not what they seemed.

Under cross-examination from prosecutor Christopher May, the 35-year-old, who was an assistant head at an Oxfordshire school, said the teenager was using naked photos of the teacher to blackmail him into continuing a “fantasy conversation”.

He said the thousands of texts messages seen by jurors did not show the threats, which were being made either face to face or on a phone application for gay men called Grindr, where chat logs are not stored.

When asked why he was seemingly messaging the boy at 2.59am on July 11 last year, Williams said there must have been an error with the time associated with the electronic communication.

Asked why the boy’s alleged blackmail threats were not contained in any recordable form of communication, Williams replied: “That’s not my issue.”

Questioned about sending various messages suggesting sexual contact, Williams, of Ruardean Walk, Cheltenham, replied: “These messages are pure fantasy.”

Williams denies seven counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child by a person in a position of trust and one charge of being a person in a position of trust inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. The trial continues.
