AN accounts manager stole £70,000 from a tyre and recovery firm over an 11-year period.

Suzanne Manley siphoned the sums from Carterton Tyres between January 2000 and February 2011, Oxford Crown Court heard yesterday.

She also exposed them to £12,500 in penalties from HM Customs & Revenue for late VAT returns because of her actions.

Manley, now of Bracebridge Heath, Lincolnshire, pleaded guilty to a count of theft, one of transferring criminal property and one of fraud.

All three related to the Carterton-based company, which provides agricultural and everyday tyre replacement services, as well as breakdown and accident recovery.

The theft charge related to £70,000 in cash taken over 11 years, the court was told. Transferring criminal property related to £41,287 being moved between August 3, 2005 and February 18, 2011.

The fraud count was in relation to the abuse of her position as manager of the company accounts.

The case was adjourned until Thursday for a pre-sentence report.
