Witney Boys' Brigade celebrates
Sir - Congratulations on your very interesting article about the Boys' Brigade (April 16), which this year celebrates the movement's 125th year.
The 1st Witney Company has a marvellous record. It is in its 106th year of continuous service, training boys and young men in the advancement of Christ's Kingdom'.
Witney Museum is staging an exhibition of Boys' Brigade memorabilia, which is to continue until the end of May. This display marks the centenary of when the founder, Sir William Alexander Smith, inspected the company in 1908.
This opportunity for examining the artefacts on display is a must for any ex-members of the company and others who will be interested to learn about the BB movement. Opening times at the museum are Wednesday-Saturday, 10am-4pm, and Sunday, 2pm-4pm.
Any boy wishing to join the company is urged to contact the captain, Marion Frow, on 01235 528942.
There is to be a special parade service for serving members and old boys' to be held on Sunday this week at 10.30am, in the High Street Methodist Church. The chaplain of the company, Rev Richard Donoghue, will be leading the service, and former members of the brigade will be especially welcomed.
