Pavements pose constant hazard
10:00am Wednesday 24th October 2012 in Letters
Sir – Once again, in Witney, I have twisted an ankle on the famous paving slabs of the Market Place; fortunately not too severely, but certainly enough to make me yell and sore for the rest of the day.
Outside the Co-op and the 99p shop is particularly bad – how on earth anyone less able, or in a mobility buggy, copes, I cannot imagine.
Someone, one day, is going to do themselves a serious mischief.
All the wasted money on the unwanted Link Road, the Corn Exchange, down another pothole, and the pavements. Worthy of In The Night Garden – Upsy-Daisy would be proud of them.
One or two folk, when I have stumbled, have also said how bad the pavements are.
Why? Surely they should be periodically inspected (oh, perhaps they were in 240BC). Off to Witney later on today – “ouch!”
