Sir – The county council was so sure that it would succeed in winning the Cogges Link Road inquiry that it started preparatory work before the result was announced.

It is a shame that, since the inquiry went against them, they haven’t shown the same enthusiasm in starting the Shores Green slip roads project, which was suggested as the better solution to Witney’s traffic problems by the inspector.

The problems, and danger, of the Ducklington Lane-Station Lane junction have been a topic of conversation for a long time.

I believe that when Lidl was built they gave £50,000 to upgrade the junction, so is the council still sitting on that money and not using it to improve the junction?

It is time that the council put Witney’s needs first and stopped dragging its heels.
