Sir – It seems to me to be a total nonsense to link the election of our police commissioner tomorrow to any particular political party.
I, for one, will be looking at the statements of the candidates (if I can track them down) to determine whom I believe to be best for the post irrespective of any party affiliation.
Local politics and posts like this one have become far too politicised in all the wrong ways, with, I fear, merit all too often being relegated to the back burner.
