Sir – Your article about Mr and Mrs Ken Bull caught my attention because I and my wife are pensioners too.
My heart goes out to the couple, especially as Mrs Bull is in such poor health and is terminally ill.
And I would like to make a suggestion as to how they can save a bit more money for their needs.
Their water bill is much too high in my opinion. Unless they – and their son, if he lives with them – are using lots of water each day, they could save quite a lot of money by going on to a water meter.
I elected to have our water metered last year, and my annual bill has gone down from over £300 to £168. And there are three people living in this household.
I wish I could suggest more to help this couple, but this is the only helpful idea I can contribute.
