Sir – David Bond (Gazette Letters, December 12) describes the situation on the path across Langel Common very well.
The path between the church and the vicarage has a smooth surface and never gets any sun, so the ice stays a long time.
I fell there myself on December 5 on black ice, although I was taking great care.
The path is very heavily used by people of all ages. Aren’t we supposed to be getting out of our cars and walking or cycling? If the people who use this path got in their cars instead, the traffic situation would be even worse than it is now. Gritting of this path should be a high priority.
