Sir – With reference to your report (Gazette, January 30) and letters (last week’s Gazette) about recycling, I would like to say that on Thursdays at 6am – sometimes earlier – the recycling crew empty my recycling boxes and replace them, one inside the other, in the place where I had originally put them.

Regardless of the weather, they never fail. I have seen the same crew, hours later, still working, methodically sorting people’s rubbish before putting it into the different sections of the collecting vehicle.

It is time-consuming and needlessly so, as people should sort out their own cardboard, plastics and paper.

We should not be complaining about these men, whose work is important in any community. People should value them, not complain.
