Outbreak of bigotry over mosque

Sir – We were saddened to read about the withdrawal of permission to establish a small mosque in Chipping Norton (Gazette, February 13).
We were profoundly disgusted to read why this was necessary.
We hope that the Muslim community will be able to worship, in peace, at the Town Hall for the time being.
We hope the town will eventually overcome this outbreak of bigotry and find a space for a mosque.
We hope, finally, that police investigations prove successful and the perpetrators of this outrage are found and prosecuted.
