Post office closure a threat to economy

Sir – We are writing to wholly endorse your editorial (Gazette, February 13, Post office should stay put).

To remove Witney’s main post office from the current location would be a huge blow to our community and would have a particularly negative impact on some of our most vulnerable people who rely on the post office for access to essential services.

We also fear that as a hub for business, losing the post office poses a further threat to our fragile local economy.

The suggestion of a shared location threatens to result in even longer queues and accessibility problems for those with disabilities.

We see no justification for the closure of this crucial service which is currently perfectly located in our community and we will campaign to keep Witney post office open.

Cllr Andrew Coles, Cllr Duncan Enright, Laura Price, Duncan Hume, Witney Constituency Labour Party
