Workers' efforts in winter appreciated
10:00am Wednesday 13th March 2013 in Letters
Sir – As we see the harsh weather of the winter pass, I would like to use your paper to pass on my heartfelt thanks to the people who have to struggle through the tough weather to do the jobs that we all depend on.
I am thinking in particular of the people who deliver our post, our milk, our medicines and other similar services.
We see these people struggling through the difficult weather, some in cars, some on bikes, all with heavy loads to carry. In my experience, they are never grumpy, and always continue to be helpful.
I know that there are many older people in our communities who depend on these resilient individuals for essential items to keep them going, so I would like to thank everyone concerned on their behalf.
One individual who, I feel, deserves noteworthy thanks is my own postman, Terry, who I have seen struggle through the appalling weather day after day.
He continues to do an excellent job, be extremely helpful and cheerful at all times, and he warrants a special mention.
My thanks go to you all, and I hope the weather improves soon to make each day more enjoyable.
