Co-op should examine its role in nurseries' poor ratings
10:00am Wednesday 21st August 2013 in Letters
Sir – I am writing in response to the article about the Co-operative Childcare nurseries (last week’s Gazette), specifically the comments that the Co-op made about the old Petit Enfant nurseries in Witney and Carterton.
I am absolutely disgusted that the Co-op could suggest that the previous owners lacked investment and did not reach the Co-op’s high standards.
Since taking over, Carterton has gone from a good to inadequate rating, losing many excellent staff without replacing them, and many customers.
Carterton Petit Enfant had achieved NDNA’s e-Quality Counts quality assurance scheme at the highest level in December 2011 and a good Ofsted rating in September 2011.
Therefore when the Co-op took over, the nursery was at a high quality, suggesting that the decrease in quality needs to be addressed by the Co-op themselves.
