Sir – As yet another victim of Witney High Street's paving slabs on Monday, November 25, I am writing to thank passers-by who stopped to help and the two yellow-jacketed gentlemen (PCSOs, perhaps?) who gently lifted me to my feet, near Lloyds pharmacy.
Apart from a grazed nose and damaged street ego, no harm was done – but I was lucky, having already had two hip replacements and being nearly into my 80th year, it could have been much worse.
I am well aware of council costs but one day there is going to be a serious compensation claim that could really damage their coffers. How many more pedestrians have to fall before then?
