Sir – As a resident of Brize Norton, I somewhat surprisingly find myself in disagreement with your correspondent, Mr Beckingham (Noise still key issue, Witney Gazette, November 27).
After a night’s sleep disturbed by ground running Hercules, 90 minutes spent on the snarled up A40, making my way to Oxford is definitely not an antidote but even more of an inconvenience than the noise.
The planning (to use the term loosely) of new homes at Carterton and Witney is initially driven by the Government. It beggars belief that our ‘Western democracy’ cannot provide the infrastructure to properly support or even improve the lives of residents.
If thoughtless house-building can happen under the nose of our local MP, what hope is there for the country at large?
CF Smith (Mr), Carterton Road, Brize Norton
