Sir – Following my letter published in the Witney Gazette on December 18, leaflets from the Labour Party and your recent reports about the plan to move Witney’s post office, it seems quite clear that postal services need to move to a better premises other than WH Smith in the Woolgate Centre, and the current staff should remain in place and be paid for with the post office subsidy.

I was involved two or three years ago, looking into the possibility of setting up a Witney Credit Union as well, and, despite the problems with the legislation and trying to fund the 25 per cent bad debt provision required to pay for loans defaults, I am pleased to advise that I have two potential premises available in Witney, prime locations that can accommodate both the credit union and post office to save money and I have a strategy to fund both.

This will require support from Witney residents.

I hope interested parties will contact me as soon as possible. It will need the support of our MP David Cameron and district councillor Duncan Enright.
