Sir – Despite significant investment by Thames Water, one of the recent downpours caused the sewage pumping works at the bottom of Station Road in Brize Norton to overflow, resulting in temporary traffic lights and a relay of tankers.

The entrance to the new RAF medical centre in Carterton Road was also flooded, as were parts of Burford Road.

Is this familiar? Yes. The same problems occurred last Christmas in the same places.

Little wonder the residents of Brize Norton adopt a cynical approach to the assurances of the so-called ‘experts’ who have the arrogance to suggest that building 700-plus new houses at the Carterton East site will not add to these problems.
