Sir – Christ Church, Oxford, has made an application for Bloor Homes to build 700 houses within the parish boundaries of Brize Norton and comments about the proposals to West Oxfordshire District Council have been invited.

Before doing so, may I suggest people drive out to Folly Park, Faringdon, a recent Bloor Homes development, and see what might be coming to a field near them.

Perhaps, if planning permission is granted at Brize Norton, Bloor Homes will change the housing density, widen the roads, and provide better parking.

However, they cannot change the close proximity of the proposed site to Britain's largest RAF base, with all its noise and light pollution – to say nothing of the pong of aviation fuel.

A nice prospect for young families investing everything in their dream home.

Should an urban development coalesce with a Domesday Oxfordshire village, boasting 23 grade II-listed buildings?

Lack of local jobs will mean extra cars commuting on the already gridlocked A40, and more cars driving down Station Road, Brize Norton.

Is this what you want?

Drive out to Faringdon first, then have your say.

Comments, quoting Ref 14/0091/P/OP, must be received by the council no later than tomorrow.
