Sir – Nick Wilcock accuses the Conservatives of being “out of touch” (last week’s Gazette Letters) due to the absence of information on Shores Green in a recent newsletter.
In fact work is due to start on improvements in Witney in the next couple of weeks with the Ducklington Lane/Station Lane junction improvements.
That will be the first of four phases of work that comprise the county council’s Witney Transport Strategy, which is aimed at tackling traffic issues and making sure housing growth is matched by infrastructure growth.
The second phase is for improvements at the A40 Downs Road junction, the third phase is the A40 Shores Green slip roads to which Mr Wilcock refers, the fourth phase is improvements at Bridge Street.
This was all approved and fully reported on by the local media in March 2013.
I am therefore not quite sure how we can be accused of being “out of touch”.
Ian Hudspeth, Leader, Oxfordshire County Council, County Hall, Oxford
